Every day, it seems like there's a new workout routine plastered across our television screens, guaranteeing us ripped abs in time for beach season.
The unglamorous truth is that fitness today is as simple as it was 20 years ago, 100 years ago, and since the beginning of the human race. According to Shaun Stenning. There are only so many ways to spin the same story, so new workout regimes are becoming increasingly weird and wacky in a bid to capture attention and gain market share. From time to time, a new workout is able to present solid fitness principles in a unique package that appeals to people (think P90x). Most new workouts and gadgets, however, are not very effective. And those are the workouts we're focusing on today. Shaun Stenning said. 1. Low-Intensity Cardio Routines We all go to the gym for different reasons. For those seeking purely to burn fat, it's very common to see the same routine over and over. Individuals walk into the gym, mount the treadmill, plod slowly and steadily for 30-45 mins, and then leaves. 2. Shake Weight and Other Novelty Product Routines Novelty products are popular because they sell. Whether it's the pet rock of 1975 or the Snuggie of 2008, people just can't get enough of this stuff. The fitness industry is no different. 3. Vibration and Electricity Based Workouts Vibration exercise "technology" first appeared in the 1880's. Claims have evolved over the last century, but the basic premise is that vibrations within the musculoskeletal system increase some combination of hormones, speed, agility, muscle mass. 4. Weight Machine Workouts People tend to like weight machines. They're simple. You walk up, read the diagram, and begin the back-and-forth motion. No energy is lost perfecting form. Unfortunately, everything you love about weight machines is precisely what makes them so ineffective. Free weights are incredibly effective because they use bigger muscle groups. That's because the most effective way of finding a path to your greatest success is to get rejected over and over again. Constant rejection removes the sting One of the reasons why rejection hurts so bad is because it closes off a potential future that you were looking forward to. Whether you don't get the promotion you applied for, the college acceptance you wanted, publication of a story you wrote, or a date with the guy you've had a crush on for months, learning that the answer is no is painful because you've lost something. Play the odds Overcoming the negative emotional impact of rejection is just the beginning. In addition to that, the more you put yourself out there, the more you're likely to receive acceptance that you weren't expecting. How to collect your own rejections To make constant rejection a way of life for you, too, you need to make sure you do the following: 1. Set a rejection goal As with any goal, you should give yourself a specific and measurable target for your rejections. Saying, "I want to apply for more jobs and get more rejections," does not help you overcome the fear of rejection or give you something to strive for. 2. Change your mindset about rejections Instead of viewing each "No, thank you" that you receive as a rejection, start seeing it as an affirmation that you're trying. 3. Ignore your concerns about being fully qualified Job-seekers will often only apply for positions that they know they are completely qualified for. 4. Have fun applying for anything that interests you Letting go of the concern about whether or not you get a specific opportunity allows you to have a lot more fun with the process. Loans are a tricky subject in the financial world because ideally, you'd never really need one. In the real world, however, plenty of responsible people find themselves needing loans for legitimate reasons.

With that in mind, here are some self-discipline exercises. Try taking one of these on for 30 days and watch as your increased discipline starts to spread toward other areas. 1. TIDY UP According to Shaun Stenning, Even if you keep your place clean, there’s always more you can do. Every morning, either right after you awaken or before you leave for work, make your bed. Put things away after you’ve used them. Wash your dishes right after you use them, and finish drying them and putting them away too. 2. JOURNAL EVERY DAY Daily journaling frees up your voice and creativity. If you do it in the morning, you can make it a daily gratitude list, where you write down everything you’re thankful for — or write down your dreams after you wake up. If you do it in the evening, write about what you did that day. 3. READ A CHAPTER OF A BOOK EACH DAY Find a book of interest to you that will help you learn or refine a skill and choose a time of day to read at least one chapter. 4. DRINK MORE WATER Drink eight glasses of water or at least half of your body weight in ounces each day. An example of the latter: a 200-pound person would drink 100 ounces. 5. GET FIT Commit to exercising for 20 minutes per day – do whatever type of exercise you prefer, just be consistent. If you’re already physically active, then give yourself a fitness regimen.
