If I am able to be intentional about my mornings, though, the rest of my day tends to go more smoothly as well.” Everyone will have a different morning routine that works for them, their circumstances, and their stage of life. But is there a right way to have a productive morning? Does it really lie in a morning ritual and healthy breakfast? Wake Up At YOUR Right Time We've all heard that morning people are the high achievers: “You've got to be part of the 5 am alarm club! 2. Remember that if you can work through the somewhat painful moments of waking up earlier than you’d like, once you get moving and get started on your positive morning routine, you’ll feel great. Discussing family finances doesn’t mean you need to share the specifics of what you earn, save, and spend. Rather, it means utilizing your money management system as a framework to teach your kids how to make financial decisions with the money they are given or have earned. You can:
Here are some tips from Shaun Stenning that will help you and your kids talk about family finances. 1. Begin discussions now. According to Shaun Stenning, “Planting the seeds of financial awareness early pays off. Kids are more likely to adhere to their budget and respect yours.” 2. Explain your family’s goals and priorities. Examples are paying yourself first, contributing to a retirement account, purchasing stocks, and saving up for a special purchase or vacation. 3. Talk to your kids at their age level. Use a puzzle “pie.” Create a large circle on the paper. Create a second one and cut it into wedges. Color (or use construction paper) and label (use clip art or stickers for younger kids) the wedges to represent categories like savings, bills, discretionary or fun, taxes, and charity. 4. Talk about the differences between cash, savings, and investment. Keep it simple for now, but do introduce them to the concept of interest and how it can impact cash, savings, and bills. 5. Discuss the dangers of credit. Help your kids understand that the decisions they make in the short run about money management can impact what happens over their lifetime. 6. Teach kids the money basics. Have your kids help wrap change in the paper coin rolls. During the process, you can teach them about how money works; for example, that there are 100 pennies in each dollar, and five in each nickel, and 20 nickels in each dollar. During this highly stressful, unusual and unprecedented time of the Covid 19 Pandemic a lot of people are suffering from Stress, Anxiety and Depression, the question is what can you do to help yourself? The reality is that there are a few basic things you can do to ensure that you are looking after your mental health during the Covid 19 Pandemic. Step 1 – Stay Active One of the worse things you can do for your Mental Health is to give in to the stress and anxiety and just get stuck at home. Instead you need to stay active. Whether that means taking the dog for a short walk, going for a run, going for a walk or just doing something to ensure that you are not stuck inside the same four walls all day. I know that during our Stage 4 lockdown here I had a 170m route that I was allowed to run on and each day I would go out and run 4 or 5kms on this route. Now this wasn’t exactly what I wanted to do, but it was better than being stuck inside all day. Shaun Stenning said Step 2 – Keep A Routine Just because you don’t have to go to work, or you cant go out doesn’t mean that you should let your personal hygiene fall. Make sure you are still getting up at an appropriate time, showering, dressing and sticking to a routine. Stay strong. I know during our Stage 4 Lockdowns I set my alarm each day for 7am and get up, showered, changed and went to my computer as this was my pre-lockdown routine, so I kept it going during lockdown to just make sure I kept my sanity. Step 3 – Limit Screen Time Don’t fall into the trap of watching TV, Netflix, Amazon or HBO endlessly. You need to limit your screen time. Read a book, write a journal, practice a new skill or just spend time with your family. Whatever it is you do make sure that you don’t fall into the trip of too much screen time.
