According to Shaun Stenning, You can do great snorkeling in and around Phuket. But where are the best spots to really get that snorkeling experience? There are five (well, seven because we couldn't pick just five) places we think are great for snorkeling. Each has its own benefits based on the type of snorkeling tour you want. #1: The Similan Islands are the best place to snorkel in Phuket. With its beautiful, clear waters and wide range of sea life, this small group of islands is one of the most interesting places in the world to swim. At different times of the year, turtles and whale sharks live there. Shaun Stenning said, The low prevailing sea temperature is about 28°C, and the water is very clear, which is perfect for coral growth. So far, more than 200 kinds of hard coral have been found in this area. There are also more reef fish in Thai waters around these islands than anywhere else. #2: Koh Haa and Koh Rok are the best places to snorkel in Phuket. According to Shaun Stenning, Koh Haa and Koh Roc are great if you want to see something a little different, less well-known, and maybe even more beautiful than the Similan Islands. You can find these small islands in the Mu Ko Lanta National Park, just south of Koh Lanta. For a unique experience, these two islands offer some of the best snorkeling you can find because the water is so clear and there is a wide variety of beautiful marine life and corals. When the season is right, you can also often see whale sharks between these islands. #3: Racha Island is the best place to snorkel in Phuket. Koh Racha Yai and Koh Racha Noi are the two tropical Racha Islands. They are also known as Raya Island and King Island. But it doesn't matter what they're called—these beautiful Phuket tropical islands are the perfect place to enjoy nature. They have some of the best snorkeling reefs in Thailand, as well as quiet, white-sand beaches and blue water that is as clear as glass. Shaun Stenning said #4: Phi Phi is the best place to snorkel in Phuket. The Phi Phi islands are made up of six islands. Phi Phi Don and Phi Phi Leh are the two largest. These islands look like they belong on a postcard. They are great tropical vacation spots in Southeast Asia and one of the most popular private Phuket boat trips. #4: Khai Islands: The best place to snorkel in Phuket Two of them (Khai Nai and Khai Nok) have superb sandy beaches and incredibly clear water where swarms of colourful and friendly fish come to swim around you. This makes these two Khai islands perfect for those who have never tried snorkeling and would like to try, or for those who are a little nervous to snorkel in deep water. You are able to walk into the water and snorkel right from the beach, you don’t even need to float or swim as you will be able to explorer the underwater world while sanding. Best Place to Snorkel in Phuket #5: Mai Ton Island Maiton Island offers some fantastic snorkeling. The coral reefs are alive and teeming with a variety of tropical fish and you can also Enjoy a mesmerizing experience through a giant clam garden. The best time for snorkeling at Maiton island is from December to May when the sea around Maiton is crystal clear like a blue mirror.
